After several weeks of internal discussion, we are announcing that vaccination for COVID-19 will be required for all attendees, artists, and vendors No Brand Con 2022. This was not an easy decision to make, but we think it’s the only safe way that we can responsibly run the event. We understand that some people cannot be medically vaccinated for COVID-19, and we know that this will exclude those people from attending the convention this year.
It’s obviously not ideal, but right now it’s the only way we can see the event safely moving forward.
Honestly, we made this decision because there are a lot of uncontrollable things in the way the convention is laid out in the Chula Vista. For example, our panel rooms are located right next to the hotel bar, which is open to the public. There are going to be non-attendees in close proximity in the hotel, and the odds of transmission from folks not attending the con is high enough that we wouldn’t feel comfortable running the con without a vaccination requirement.
Additionally, even with the vaccine requirement we will also still be requiring attendees also wear masks because of this. If we were in a different venue where the event was more closed off from the rest of the hotel, we might have gone with a negative COVID test requirement like some other events have been able to do, but that’s not the reality we’re dealing with.
How this will work?
When you arrive at the registration table at No Brand Con 2022 you will be asked to show your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Card to the No Brand Con staff member. They will review it, and hand you your badge afterwards. This will be the process whether you’re picking up a preregistration or paying at the door.
We may implement a way for preregistered attendees to submit their information prior to the convention, but even in that case we will still allow preregistrants to verify their information at the door.
I can’t get vaccinated and I’ve already preregistered. What can I do?
If you can’t get any of the three vaccines available, unfortunately you won’t be able to attend. You can either request a refund for your registration before March 22nd, or alternatively you can choose to roll your registration over to No Brand Con 2023. In either situation, please reach out to our registration team at sales@nobrandcon.org.
