A big thanks to everyone who stopped by our table and room parties at Geek.Kon this past weekend! A lot of fun was had by all and it was definitely the best Geek.Kon to date! Major kudos to their staff for putting on such a stellar convention!

Looking ahead to our next stop, usually when our staff has to travel to other events, it’s at least a couple of hours drive for us. At least our next event is only going to require us to drive across town! Several of our staffers will be heading to the Eau Claire Comics Hobby Expo this Saturday, September 17 at The Metropolis Resort in Eau Claire, WI. The Expo will more specifically be taking place in the Metro Room at Action City and will run from 10AM to 5PM that day. We’ll have a table there where you’ll be able to take advantage of our special at-con early-bird registration rate of just $20! This will be the last time we’ll be offering our cheapest registration rate for No Brand Con XI next May before our online registration rate moves up to $30 after October 1, 2011.

The Expo itself looks like it will have a lot of interesting vendors and guests from various industries and it’s only $4 to get in! And for any anime fans who might worry there won’t be much for them to check out, don’t worry as Eagle Anime from the twin cities will be a vendor there covering all your anime goody needs!

Also, be sure to stick around Action City after the Expo closes at 5PM because a couple of our staffers will be taking on Action City’s Gorilla Pizza Challenge! Will two of them be able to scarf down a 30 inch pizza in under an hour to defend the honor of No Brand Con? You’ll have to stick around to find out!

We’ll be heading out to Geek.Kon today at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton, WI. We’ll have a table setup in their Ambassador area where you can pick up some No Brand swag and take advantage of our $20 at-con preregistration special we’ll be running this weekend! We’ll also be running a free raffle where any Geek.Kon attendees can enter for a chance to win one of our awesome No Brand Hero hooded zip-up sweatshirts!

We’ll also be running room parties from 9PM to 2AM on Friday and Saturday night where you’ll be able to play some awesome table and video games including Typing of the Dead! We’ll also be having a Star Fox 64 3D meet-up during our room parties so be sure to bring you 3DS if you have one! We’ll post an update on our Facebook and Twitter accounts when we know our room number, so be sure to stop by if you’ll be at Geek.Kon this weekend!

Have you volunteered at past conventions and ever thought about joining a convention staff? Well, here’s your chance to do so and get more information about No Brand Con!

The No Brand Con staff will be holding it’s annual staff recruitment meeting this Thursday, September 8 @ 7:00PM in Room 276 of the Phillips Science Hall located on UWEC’s lower campus next to the Davies Center. It’s an open meeting where you’ll be able to ask questions about joining convention staff, what’s involved, what you can do to help, etc. You don’t have to be a UWEC student to join our convention staff either.

No Brand Con is again inviting it’s congoers to help bring programming to NBC 11 in the form of fan-run panels! Just wanted to post a reminder that our $25 early-bird preregistration rate will be ending in a month on October 1, 2011. After October 1, preregistration will move up to our standard $30 rate which will run until April 6, 2012 when it closes.

You will still be able to preregister for No Brand Con XI next May for our $20 at-con rate at our ambassador table and room party at Geek.Kon at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton, WI from September 9-11 and at our table at the Eau Claire Comics Hobby Expo at the Metropolis Resort in Eau Claire, WI on Saturday, September 17. These will be the last two times we will be offering our cheapest preregistration rate, so be sure to take advantage if you’ll be attending either of these events!

The No Brand Con staff will be hitting the road once again in two weeks heading to Geek.Kon at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton, WI the weekend of September 9-11. Geek.Kon has very similar roots to No Brand starting out on the UW-Madison campus their first couple of years and then moving into their current facility back in 2009. This will be Geek.Kon’s 5th convention overall and we’re very fortunate to have the strong working relationship with their staff as we currently do.

No Brand Con will be running room parties on Friday and Saturday nights as well as being in their ambassador area. We will again be offering our $20 at-con preregistration special for No Brand Con XI next May which saves $5 off our current online early bird rate of $25 which runs until the end of September. This will be one of the last times we’ll be offering our cheapest preregistration rate, so be sure to take advantage if you’ll be attending Geek.Kon! We wanted to thank everyone who stopped by Carson Park on Saturday for Nerdstock! It was one of the most successful yet and we will definitely be doing another one next Summer!

Time moves on though and with Summer coming to a close, it’s time to start looking to the Fall. The No Brand Con staff will be busy planning for No Brand Con XI next May like usual and we will begin making announcements and opening up submissions for various aspects of the convention as we head towards the end of the year. This will also be one our busiest Falls yet with several events and conventions we will be running and attending in the coming next few months.
