Volunteer for No Brand Con 2018!

Want to get reimbursed for your No Brand Con badge, so the convention becomes effectively free to attend? If you dedicate ten hours over the course of the weekend to the con and join our volunteer team, that’s exactly what will happen!

One of the best things about No Brand Con is that it’s run by fans like you, and as we’re an event completely driven by people donating their time, it’s a great way to feel a part of it.

To find out more information, check our our Volunteer manual. If you decided that you’re interested, just fill out a 2018 volunteer application and email it to volunteering@nobrandcon.org! You won’t regret it.

The No Brand Con 2018 Schedule Is Here!

No Brand Con 2018 is coming up in just a couple of weeks, and we know many of you are excited to plan ahead for your weekend. With that in mind, we’re happy to announce that the official schedule for No Brand Con 2018 is now available to view online!

This year we’ve put it up as a Google Sheet, so you can easily view it on your computer or with the Google Sheets mobile app on your smart phone. To take a gander at it, just click here to view the schedule.

No Brand Con Presents “The Quest” Part Three

The No Brand Heroes continue on their quest to find the missing Duct Tape Boy. Hoping that Cardboard Commando might know of his whereabouts, the Gardening Ninja, Magical Girl Girl, Greenboy, and (apparently) Yarn have arrived at his last known location.

Things… things don’t go well.

(If you haven’t watched Part One or Part Two, you should do that first)

Time is Running Out – Don’t Forget to Preregister for No Brand Con 2018!

No Brand Con 2018 is just over a month away, and we couldn’t be more excited! That also means that time to preregister for the convention is running out though, as the deadline, April 8th, is just a week away.

Preregistering for a weekend badge for only $30 not only saves you money, but will help speed up your time at the con’s registration table. That allows you to get to the best parts of the convention even faster, without having to wait.

We also have our limited Sponsorship tier for just $85. Sponsorship has a number of benefits, but there are only a few slots left. To get one of those spots, you must make your purchase by April 8th.

To purchase either a standard preregistration or a sponsorship, just head on over to our registration page and pick the package that fits you!

No Brand Con Presents “The Quest” Part Two

The adventure continues for the No Brand Heroes. They’re off to find their missing teammate, but challenges may get in their way as they continue on their journey. Will they be able to move forward, or will they end up tangled in a Yarn-y situation? Watch and find out!

(And if you haven’t seen part one yet, watch that first!)

No Brand Con Presents “The Quest” Part One

The No Brand Heroes are back for 2018! A team member returns from far away, and discovers another one is missing. Will the heroes answer the call to find their displaced comrade, or will Greenboy and Magical Girl Girl just play more tabletop roleplaying games? I mean, it’s pretty even odds with this group.

In any case, the adventure begins here!

Reminder: Don’t Forget to Book Your Hotel Room!

Have you booked your room for No Brand Con 2018 yet? Don’t worry, there’s still time. To do so, just call the Chula Vista’s reservation line at (844) 215-4027 and use the booking code F19802. Unfortunately, the Chula Vista cannot support discount codes through their website, so this is the only way to get in our block.

The Chula Vista often ends up housing multiple events, so space there may fill up before you know it. To make sure you get your spot and the $129 a night rate, you should reserve your room as soon as possible.

We hope to see you there!

Guest Announcement: John Swasey

We’re excited to announce another guest for No Brand Con 2018, and that is voice actor John Swasey. John started down the road of anime in 1997, when he landed his first role in Golden Boy from ADV Films. Since then, John has gone on to voice hundreds shows and characters with Sentai Films, Funimation, ADV Films, Switchblade Films, Okratron 5000, Gearbox, Seraphim Digital and Illumitoons just to name a few. John’s wife once quipped that there are certain actors who might be the “Brad Pitts” of anime but John is the “Kevin Bacon” of anime.

Being more of the character actor type has given John the freedom to voice bazillions of characters such as Undertaker in Black Butler, Salvador in Borderlands II (VG), Gendo in Evangelion, Sgt. Hauser in Halo (VG), Lord Death in Soul Eater, Hoenheim in Fullmetal Alchemist, Sir Crocodile in One Piece, Dodoria in DBZ Kai, Kogoro in Sgt. Frog, Huang in Darker than Black, Hades in Fairy Tale, Zachary in Attack on Titan, Aramaki in Ghost in the Shell, and Jinnouchi in Summer Wars, as well as roles in the live action films 2009 Lost Memories, Conduct Zero, Yesterday, Jungle Juice, and the Gamera trilogy. Most recently you can catch John in the broadcast series of GANGSTA as Chad, and Akame Ga Kill as Bols as seen on Toonami.

John voiced his favorite role (Kumatetsu, The Beast) in Funimation’s theatrical release of Mamoru Hosoda’s film, The Boy and the Beast.

In 2004, John jumped to the other side of the “mic” to direct. Some of the shows he has recently directed include Ushio and Tora, Squid Girl, Flip Flappers, and Yona Yona Penguin. John loves working in the world of anime as a director and voice actor!

Currently John is working with pals Kyle Jones and Jay Hickman on an original animation full length movie called The Perfect Khan. In addition to anime, John has acted in radio and tv commercials and films.
